Dear Team.
I would seek your kind advise and help to resolve below issue which am facing.
Am, configuring 10G SFP connection on Nexus switch (5672UP), the interface shows the status SFP validation failed and interface not getting up. I have changed SFP and connected same SFP on another interface on same the Same SFP works fine with 10Gbps.

I checked the interface status and switch default configuration, the interface transceiver capability shows 1000/10000 and SFP Media Type SFP-1000BASE-T and slot configuration shows global in switch
slot 1
port 1-48 type ethernet

The subjected Interface previously connected SFP-1000BASE-T ethernet cables with speed 1000. I have changed interface speed. but the still not getting up.
I have attached here the switch configuration and the subjected Interfaces status and some other active 10G interface details as well.

I would be grateful on your help and advise to sort out this issue which am facing.

Thank you.

Hi,

type is SFP-1000BASE-T

It appears that you have a 1gig SFP

Can you post the exact part number?

Also, is this a Cisco SFP or SFP+?

Some third-party vendor optics do not work with Cisco switches.

If it is 10Gig SFP the part number should look like this

SFP-10G-SR

See the compatibility matrix for the 5600 series.

many thanks for your reply

Yes it’s same part number which you mentioned. When I inserted this 10G SFP The interface still shows type SFP-1000BASE-T.

The same SFP works on other interface.
is there anyway reset configuration on this specific interface to default without restarting switch ?

or any other work around

Hi,

Yes, you can reset the interface to default using this command:

default interface ethernet1/23

If this does not work, you may have to replace the SFP. Again if you are purchasing from a 3rd party company, make sure it is a Cisco-approved vendor.

HTH

Hello
I did the default interface command.

The interface went down and moved default vlan 1. but when i check interface status its shows according to below.

I removed SFP from interface, but still it shows SFP invalid instead of SFP Absent where no SFP installed the interface.

Eth1/23 -- sfpInvali 1 full 10G SFP-1000BAS
Eth1/24 -- sfpInvali 1 full 10G SFP-1000BAS

 - Here's an example bug report https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuo46284 , I don't think it matches your particular problem but you want to have a look at the current software version running on the nexus and or use an advisory release if applicable , check if that can help.
