I'm currently trying to measure a delay from packets leaving a Nexus 9300 switch>switch aggregator>Analyser Tool (Corvil)
I have a span port configured on the nexus this span port is a 40GB BiDi connection to a 3rd party Switch Aggregator. The SA dos not have a Time Stamping mechanism, only the Corvil Tool. I would like to measure the delay from packets leaving the switch port and arriving at the Tool Port, basically measuring the a Nexus TS against the Corvil TS and seeing the average delay, in microseconds I'm guessing and hoping!
I found this document in regards to PTP though I only have an NTP server for this infrastructure https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-9000-series-switches/white-paper-c11-733921.html#_Toc413144483 does anyone know if the Nexus can TS at the egress (local SPAN) and if this TS byte is added to the packet and can been in a Wireshark output easily.
