Configured two 5548 Nexus switches with VPC and a 4506 as an access switch with a port channel trunk uplink. All looks OK but when I fail one of the links from the 4506 connectivity is lost for 30 - 45 seconds. Almost like spanning tree re-converging. Didn't expect that to happen. Anyone know of any possible configuration / bug issues that might give these results?

Do both ends show both members as being in the channel and "up"?

Yes the port channel is operational. Tripled checked that.

This is not expected though you can expect a minor disruption for the active flows on the link.
Ensure you have both the links added and working correctly in the port-channel.
