No CDP Neighbours on Cisco 4500

Hi

wonder if anyone can assist me.

I have a Cisco 4500 unit running IOS cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG.bin.

Recently the box has stopped showing any cdp neighbours. All i get is this:

CH-4507-01#sh cdp nei
Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge
                  S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater, P - Phone,
                  D - Remote, C - CVTA, M - Two-port Mac Relay

Device ID        Local Intrfce     Holdtme    Capability  Platform  Port ID
CH-4507-01#

CDP is enabled globally and on all interfaces.

I have no crashfile to look at. Also, when i reboot the box, i am then able to see all the devices connected to it and this could be fine for awhile till one day it happens again.

Any ideas???

Marco

Hello Marco,

this looks like a software bug, it is like the CDP process crashes after some time (one day)

I would try to load a different IOS image newer or older

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi jo

that is what i thought.

I had this IOS cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-53.SG.bin before i upgraded it to cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG.bin ass i noticed the problem started with 12.2(53) IOS but moving to 12.2(54) it doesnt seem to have worked

hi marco,

how bout the remote device? is cdp enabled?

Johnlloyd

the remote devices seem to be fine with CDP working fine.

They show CDP neighbours as well as seeing the Cisco 4500 unit.

Marco

hi marco,

so it seems the issue lies on your C4500 switch. kindly follow what Giuseppe has suggested above and verify again.

Hi,

You can also try " debug cdp " to analyze further .
