No console access?

Hi,

I have two 3500XL from which I get no response over console. When unplugging the power, one of them produces a single letter or so to the terminal (seems random). The cable and the default 9600 8-N-1 works on other Cisco switches here, so that pretty much rules out terminal settings and the cable, correct? (cable is from Cisco).

Hi,

It is possible that the console speed has been altered from 9600 on the switches. If you have telnet access to these switches, check the speed under 'line console 0' and use the same baud rate in the terminal emulation program on the PC (hyperterminal etc.)

If you do not have telnet access, try connecting with a baud rate of 115200.

Hope this helps,

Shashank
