I want to back up my IOS on a cisco 2621 router, but when I look at the directory I do not see any flash memory, nor can I find the IOS file in any directory
this is what I have on the router
TDS_Primary#dir ?
/all List all files
lex: Directory or file name
null: Directory or file name
nvram: Directory or file name
system: Directory or file name
xmodem: Directory or file name
ymodem: Directory or file name
Unknown file system <cr>
why is this ?? and how do I copy the IOS on these routers to tftp server and back to the router without a flash directory ????

Also, if the flash problem prevents you from upgrading the IOS on the device, then try putting a 'stable' image (such as the one I suggested previously) on a server, and boot from a TFTP server instead of from flash

Thaks for all the suggestions. As soon as I get the opportunity I'm going to open these routers up and look at them.
If there is nothing obvious I am going to boot an IOS from TFTP and see what that does.

I just openned up one of my cisco 2600's with the problem I've documented.
There was flash memory installed but obviously it wasn't recognized.
I removed the flash meory that was installed and placed a spare 8mb strip I had laying around
Sure enough I was able to see flash memory with the a different stick installed.
Conclusion, something is corruted with the flash memory that was installed, and I will be replacing it.
thanks for all the help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
