not getting switchport trunk 4948E

Hi,

I Trying to configure the Catalyst Cisco 4948e switch SFP Port Tengigabit switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q but didn't get the option.

Switch(config)#interface tengigabit0/49

SW(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

                                                 ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

SW(config-if)# sho run-config

     interface TenGigabit0/49

      switchport mode trunk

Kindly, suggest. trunk port is configured are not??

not configure please suggest and guide.

Dot1Q encapsulation is the only option so there is no need to enter the command.

so my port becomes a trunk, or do I need another command? kindly suggest.

IF the command "switchport mode trunk" is entered, the port becomes an 802.1Q trunk.

Look at the output to the command "sh interface <PORT> cap" and it should say that the port will only support 802.1Q.  ISL is not mentioned because it means it is no longer supported.
