Hello all,

I need was asked to prepare a path for upgrading NX-OS from  5.1(3)N2(1) to the new 7.3(7)N1(1). From cisco sites, I was able to prepare the path like below.... However, could anyone confirm I'm not missing anything? For me, it looks ok, but just to verify with you as this is the first time I prepare it...

Currently running: 5.1(3)N2(1)

Path: 5.1(3)N2(1) -> 5.2(1)N1(9b) -> 7.0(8)N1(1) -> 7.1(4)N1(1) -> 7.3(7)N1(1)

Thank you in advance.

Much appretiate your help...

If you want to upgrade from a release on Cisco NX-OS release 7.0 train or earlier, you must first upgrade to Cisco NX-OS release 7.0(4)N1(1) and then to 7.1(4)N1(1).

So, 5.1(3)N2(1c)>7.0(4)N1(1)>7.1(4)N1(1)>7.3(6)N1(1)

Be sure to issue "show install all impact" command to identify the upgrade impact.

Also, use install all command during upgrades.

 - Check the release notes of the designated version and look for upgrade path info's. This is very important because replies here may come from exports there is always the dilemma of authoritative-reply-validation for your work-in-progress.

@balaji.bandi - I've checked the path you mentioned and see that for upgrading to 7.0(4)N1(1), I have to run 5.2x first... so in that case, I believe it will be as below?

5.1(3)N2(1c)> 5.2(1)N1(1) > 7.0(4)N1(1)>7.1(4)N1(1)>7.3(6)N1(1)

...thank you both for inputs on my question

Sure agreed, make sure you take the config out of the box. if this is vPC, make sure a single-homed device has brief while rebooting the switch, do it in a maintenance  window. make sure you connect console and capture logs if you encounter any issue.
