Hi All,
Just doing a quick sanity check on my decision before I purchase but have found some conflicting information that I do with help clarifying!
I'm purchasing a 3750X-48 and need to run OSPF, can I do this with IP Base? The Cisco product page would appear to say Yes, I quote:
"Software versions
But from everything else I've read on these forums only static routing is available in IP Base along with RIP, can anyone shed some light on this? By Routed Access does it simply mean OSPF can be used but only as a Stub area (much like EIGRP with IP Base?)
Thanks
Jay

Can you provide your link? The links I am reading said OSPF is in IP Services.
"The LAN Base feature set offers enhanced intelligent services that includes comprehensive Layer 2 features. The IP Base feature set provides baseline enterprise services in addition to all LAN Base features. IP Base also includes the support for routed access, StackPower, and MACsec. The IP Services feature set provides full enterprise services that includes advanced Layer 3 features such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM), and IPv6 routing such as OSPFv3 and EIGRPv6. IP Services feature set also includes the Embedded Event Manager (EEM) and IP service-level agreements (SLAs) initiator functionalities. All software feature sets support advanced security, QoS, and management features. The IP Services feature set is only available as an upgrade option at the time of ordering or through a license at a later time; there is no dedicated IP Services switch model."

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for your reply, I was looking at the actual product page for the 3750-X located here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10745/index.html
If you scroll to about mid way down the page it has a "Software Versions" section in which it states IP Base includes OSPF for Routed Access.
Thanks
Jay

I see. What version are you running in your switch right now. The output of show ver would help.

Hi Jerry,
I haven't actually bought the switches yet, I am in the process of purchasing them and in doing so and trying to ensure I buy the right software version for the requirements (which is to run OSPF).
Thanks
J

Jonathan,
Have you tested this yet? Is it full ospf capable? Or is it just EIGRP stub? The release notes say ospfv2 and 3 are capable

OSPF for routed access is in IP Base. The definition of the feature and usage guidelines are described in the release bulletin:
