OTV Decommissioning

CLCrawl

We are in the process of collapsing 2 data centers into one. Currently each data center has a pair of Nexus 7Ks, VPC paired, running OTV. We have migrated all devices on OTV extended VLANs to a single data center and now need to decommission OTV. Does this plan seem sane to accomplish this?

  1. Shutdown the SVIs for OTV extended VLANs on the Nexus in the data center we are retiring.
  2. Remove the VLANs from being extended on all 4 of the Nexus:
    • interface <Overlay Interface>
    • otv extended-vlan remove <VLAN>

If the above will accomplish what we want, will this cause any traffic disruption on these VLANs? I appreciate any helpful feedback, thank you very much.

  • interface <Overlay Interface>
  • otv extended-vlan remove <VLAN>

This should cover, Hope you performing this inactive DC, since you removing another side of DC, so should not matter to another side.

I do not see any service interrupt here, but always suggest to do in the Maintenance window.
