Packet drops when i ping by network printer

Hi Network engineers,

       We have a cisco catalyst 4500 switch and we have a network printer attached to it .when i ping the network printer from my lan pc ,i am getting packet drops. So i check the switch interface i was shocked to see there are so many unusal things such as runts ,CRC erros. So what will be the problem and how to clear the packet drop.

This show sthat your cable is faulty. Please change it and check again.

Always start at Layer 1

  Either cable or you have a speed/duplex mismatch between the printer and the switch. You need to know how the printer nic is setup, whether it's hardcoded to a speed and duplex or is it set as auto/auto .
