Packet Tracer (Physical mode), cabling issues

Hello All,

I am trying to figure out a couple of answers and could not find the answers by myself.

In Packet Tracer (Physical Mode):

How can I unplug a cable if I put it in the wrong port (RS-232 cable accidentally into Ethernet port)? How can I unplug and move cable or if I want to move a cable from Switch port 1 to port 24?
If a cable is deleted, is there a way to replace that cable on the pegboard.

Thank you for all the help.

You cannot put wrong cable in the wrong port, like RS-232 cable accidentally into Ethernet port. PT gives u an error.

To move a cable from Switch port 1 to port 24 you will need to delete that cable, link. Select Del cursor (3rd one from left) and click on cable u wish to delete.

Yes, you can select new connection and select auto cabling or select cable manually.

You should make all your selection on main PT logical topology pane.

To remove or add an module to device, that device must be turned off. (PT physical window of an device)

If you go to Net-academy site, there is Free intro course about PT.

Hi Martin,

Yes, the logical mode is easiest to manage the cabling. I'm trying out the physical mode, and found I had to reset activity if I deleted the cable off the pegboard. I also deleted the cable if I accidentally put in wrong port. No errors in physical mode when I put into PC 1's ethernet vs RS-232 on PC 1.

I hope that clarifies my question.

EDIT (new PT version):

Ah, the new PT 8.1 gets an error when trying to put an ethernet cable into an rs-232 port.

Also, you can now click the end of a cable and drag it back to the pegboard, or connect to another device.

If you have any of the above issues, please update to the newer PT 8.1 and it will resolve these cabling issues related to previous versions of PT.
