I have a pair of 6880-Xs in a VSS pair with a strange configuration. I wanted to get some opinions before changing anything. The switches are connected by MM fiber as follows:
Te1/5/1 <-> Te2/5/1
Te1/5/2 <-> Te2/5/2
The port states are:
Te1/5/1 - connected - 10Gbase-SR
Te1/5/2 - suspended - unknown
Te2/5/1 - connected - unknown
Te2/5/2 - suspended - 10Gbase-SR
The configs look like:
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/5/1
no switchport
no ip address
no cdp enable
channel-group 1 mode on
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/5/2
no switchport
no ip address
flowcontrol receive off
no cdp enable
channel-group 1 mode on
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/5/1
no switchport
no ip address
flowcontrol receive on
no cdp enable
channel-group 2 mode on
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/5/2
no switchport
no ip address
no cdp enable
channel-group 2 mode on
------------
QUESTIONS:
- Why do some ports say type "unknown"?
- Any idea what the flowcontrol statements are there for? This was done before I started here 4 months ago
- Is having the channel-group as "on" OK, or should it be "active"?

Why ON not active this depend on SP if allow lacp then ypu can use active if not you need to use ON mode.
And for why one show suspend and other unknown' this I will check I think I see same issue in nexus before

Are you sure the cable is connect correctly?

Te1/5/1 - connected - 10Gbase-SR
Te1/5/2 - suspended - unknown
Te2/5/1 - connected - unknown
Te2/5/2 - suspended - 10Gbase-SR
Are all the above ports on the SUP? If yes, in some cases you may not be able to use both ports on each SUP.

LACP does seem to be supported on those interfaces, so I'm not sure why "on" was used. The uplinks to our IDFs used to be mostly "on" until someone from our corporate office changed those to LACP.
I'm fairly sure the cable is installed correctly, although I don't have a test to verify that.
Those ports are on the Sup. It has 16 ports, shouldn't we be able to use two for VSS?

Can you sure, disconnect cable in one side and remote side if your cable correct then the remote side interface must show nonconnect
Also I think this issue relate to other your issue about packet loss
