Ping not working in a specific VLAN,

AirSail

Level 1

spent hours trying to figure out what s wrong,

let's consider topology below

AirSail_0-1680892184814.png

WLC01(10.47.0.2) can ping WLC02 (10.47.0.3)

nexus((10.47.0.6) can ping nexus(10.47.0.5)

WLC01(10.47.0.2) CAN NOT ping 9k stack(10.47.0.1)

nexus((10.47.0.6 / 5) CAN NOT ping 9k stack(10.47.0.1) and vise versa

WLC01(10.47.0.2 / 3 )   CAN NOT ping 9k stack(10.47.0.1)  and vise versa

Note: all links are trunk allow all,

Note: no ACLs configured

Note: other vlans (about 5 vlan) all are working super fine, except the vlan where the above subnet belongs to,

also take a look at the below aro table, bc:e7 is the 9K stack core MAC address, can't understand why it getting repeated in all non working pings,

The resolution was resizing the subnet of the affected vlan and shut/no shut it,

I don't know if the shut/no shut of vlan interface was the key to resolution,

Can you do traceroute see where trace is stop

it traceroute doesn't go anywhere,

please use traceroute with source

Hi

It seems to me you did not create interface vlan on nexes 9k stack. The ping is going through it but it has no IP to ping or replay.

Make sure you created the vlan and put ip address.

Which kiind of connection existe between nexus and stack ? Is it layer 3 or layer 2 connections?

Interface vlan created already for the 9K, 10.47.0.5&6 are vlan inter IP, and as I mentioned 9K can ping each others,

9k can ping each other but the problem is the stack. I am wondering if stack is only layer 2 on this topology and that explain why nothing is pinging it and it does not ping nothing but allow ping
