Ping response times

Hi all.

I have two windows 2008 servers on a gigabit cisco network. Below are ping reponses between the two servers. I have a stacked cluster of catalyst 3750 switches. I see ping responses mostly under 1ms but there are blips of up to 9ms. Is this normal on a gigabit network? If not, what can be done to improve this?

There might be nothing wrong with your network.  Most hosts respond to ping as a lower priority relative to other traffic.  It's possible your server was busy doing something "more important".

To get accurate timings, you need to you a specific test protocol.  For example, Cisco's SLA supports a special responder to increase accuracy.
