Please, what Cisco Switches support 2,5G, 5G and 10G on RJ45

Hello, I need a Cisco switch that support 2,5G, 5G and 10G on RJ45 (802.1bz) We have a network of multiple floors and we installed new machines that are 2,5G and 5G but we only have switches that support 1G and 10G available.

So what switches in the Cisco Line-up (small business preferably) support 1G, 2,5G, 5G, 10G with RJ45 ports

Thanks

Hello @d3xmeister

Cisco Catalyst 3560cx support Gigabit and Multigigabit (100 Mbps/1/2.5/5/10 Gbps) copper, small form-factor pluggable (SFP) or 10G SFP+ uplinks

Some of these are EOL, and from what I see there are small form factor, and also a maximum of 14 ports, we need a minimum of 24 or more.

Seems like something that could be easily researched, but maybe start with a Meraki MS355-24, or C9200-24PXG, C920CX-8UXG-2XH, or C9300-24UX (many 9300 models support mGig). Not much in the way of small business.

we have tested Cat 9300 UXM they work as expected.

Bare in mind normal PC only have 1GB to test, you need thunderbolt for 10GB connection or Server cards.

Cisco AP support Multi-gig so Cat 9K AP is the right candidate for this kind of installations.

The Catayst 9300, the MS355 are great switches, but way too expensive and overkill for what we need. Basicaly these are just render nodes for a graphics render farm. We used SG350-24 10G in the past, but now these new machines are 2.5G and 5G and will only work at 1G with these. So we need something simpler and cheaper for this.

Cisco CBS350-12NP-4X, CBS350-24NGP-4x, Netgear MS510 or something similar?

I've looked at the CBS series, but I found none that have 24 ports (or more) which can work at 2,5G, 5G or 10G each. They only have 10G, or they have some ports supporting some speeds, while others are GBE only.

I know there are Netgear switches doing exactly what we want, but there is a VLAN setup there that I'm told does not work with Netgear switches, they tried it a year before for months and never worked well with that VLAN, port trunking set-up they have (all the switches in that network are Cisco)

If that is expensive for you, Google is your friend (this is cisco community what you get best answer what cisco product is used here)

Is really need PC to have 5G connection ? then what backhaul and switch required capacity have you calculated this ?

Google returns nothing, Cisco line-up is more confusing than a Romanian roundabout (except for qualified Cisco people). And every time I found something that I think works for my needs, of course it is EOL.

Yes, they have to have 2,5 and 5G connection because it speeds up frames transfer from a 20gb connected storage which can supply that speed. Frames aren't sent at the same time to all the nodes, usually 2-3 notes transfer data at the same time to their RAM

What that's saying is that at the moment, full wirespeed, all ports enabled mGig support is really on the cat 9000 series switches from Cisco.

Those specs are even rare with lower-tier manufacturers. You could look at the Fortinet FS-624F but I'm not sure that's even much cheaper than a well-discounted 9300UX.

But this is something you can find with lower-tier manufacturers, Netgear for example. Unfortunately like I said, this switch have to integrate in a Cisco VLAN/Port  Trunking Set-up that I'm told will not work with Netgear switches (they tried it a year ago.

Too bad, as the CAT 9300 is way, way overkill for what's needed there. An equivalent to a SG350 updated for Multigb is all that's needed. The building basically has a 10G Fortigate NGFW and Cisco SG-350 10G switches on every floor.

I'm with ya, but you keep asking for something that doesn't exist. If you need to save money, go with a different vendor that supports 802.1Q and LACP, and hope it works connected to a Cisco. No reason they wouldn't if properly configured.

It's not about saving money, it's about using the right tool for the job. The 9K series is overkill, almost all of its capabilities (compared to lower tier switches) won't be used.

Thank you all for your answers.

Or...maybe it's cheaper to replace the 2.5/5Gbps NICs with 10 Gbps NICs and use the existing 10 Gbps switches, and/or the CBS350-XT. Blame the cost on whoever bought 2.5 Gbps NICs in the first place
