POE or not in network core ?

Is there a need for poe capable core switch in a medium sized network ? i dont see any

The short answer is it depends. If the network design dictates that it is not a necessity and if needed there are plans to put POE capable access/distribution switches in the same area as the cores then there may be cost savings in both hardware and power requirements.

However, if there is a chance it may be a requirement in the future or if one wants the flexibility and have the option available on the cores then provisions should be made to accommodate the need.

Yes there is.
We put an 3560CX in our DCs so we can use wireless APs and phones.
