Port getting error disabled reason being "loopback"

Hi,

We have a campus network in which our hostel students are connected to 2960s. Since past few days, we are observing that some students ports are getting error disabled and the reason is "loopback". I know that any physical connectivity issue between User's room and the 2960 might be the reason but I doubt that so many users will be affected at the same time.

Another thing to note is that the users of that hostel use wi fi routers frequently. So is it possible that it may be causing the ports to be error disabled?

Can someone explain how the network packets are getting looped in this case.
