Port priority or path cost on equal 1gb links

We have 6509A and 6509B connected to each other on 1gb links on port 4/1 and port 5/1.  By default, 5/1 is blocking all vlans, and 4/1 is forwarding all vlans.  How can I change 6509B config to forward vlans 2-5 on 4/1, and vlans 6-10 on 5/1, should I use the port priority commands, or the path cost commands on those interfaces?

Thanks.

You probably have a reason not to but why not create an etherchannel with both ports and then have them forwarding for all vlans ?

In answer to question though I would use port priority commands. If you use path cost this can have an affect on other switches because now the cost to root could have changed .

Port priority is local to the switches themselves.

Remember that with port priority you make the change on the other switch ie. if you are trying to influence how 6509B forwards traffic you set the port priority commands on 6509A.
