possible ip route problem with Cisco 881 router

Hi all,

I have a problem connecting to internet from the Linux box inside this network below:

ISP/internet ---------------> Modem/Router (Zyxel) ---------------> Cisco 881W Router  (has 192.168.11.0 network) -----> Linux box 192.168.11.4 (dhcp)

                                    172.16.1.1                                        172.16.1.2

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway of last resort: 172.16.1.1 to network 0.0.0.0

Cisco router can ping domains, can ping the Linux box.

Linux box cannot ping 172.16.1.1, the modem/router.

Linux box can ping 172.16.1.2 (Cisco router)

I tried ip route variations but I couldn't make it work. Can you guys think of any solutions? I think I couldn't set the correct route. Thanks!

Hi,

you must configure a static route on the modem/router for the 192.168.11.0 network pointing to 172.16.1.2

Regards.

Alain.
