Dear All,
I am facing the below issue in my 3650 switch, Kindly help us resolve this?
%ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR: Controller port error, Interface Gi1/0/35: Power Controller reports Short detected
Regards,
Bala

Do this:
1. Command: test cable tdr int Gi1/0/35;
2. Wait for 5 to 7 seconds;
3. Command: sh cable tdr int Gi1/0/35; and
4. Post the output to #3.

Please find
TDR test last run on: March 30 08:47:45
Interface Speed Local pair Pair length Remote pair Pair status
--------- ----- ---------- ------------------ ----------- --------------------
Gi1/0/35 auto Pair A N/A N/A Normal
Pair B N/A N/A Normal
Pair C N/A N/A Normal
Pair D N/A N/A Normal

If that's "Normal" how come the speed is "auto"?

yeah , its auto only, please find the below for your reference

Is there anything plugged into this port?
04-01-2016 03:06 AM
yes leo, nothing has been connected to the port, from the port one cable has been connected to patch panel only.
Temporary i was removed the cable from the switch port,after that no issues found.
04-01-2016 04:27 AM
So why bother running a TDR if nothing is connected to the port of the switch?
02-11-2019 04:35 PM
Why would I get the flood of these alarms for a port that doesn't have anything connected?

Hello christopher.johnson@mci.com,
My suspicion: the cable, from the switch to the patch panel, likely had one or more defective pairs that intermittently produced a short.
Your log messages don't include any information about the interface changing state from down to up, but if it had shown this transition, then it could also be that a cable was plugged into the other side of the patch panel appearance, and that cable had one or more defective (shorted) pairs.
