Power requirements for a Cisco 4507R+E switch.

Folks,

I am working on a requirement where we need a Cisco 4507R+E switch with SUP8E(Dual) and "WS-X4748-RJ45V+E" modules which fully populate the chassis. To consider as a rough estimate we have considered 50 IEEE devices which will consume 15.4W power.

The vendor who will be provisioning the power has come back to us asking us what should be the Input power supply he should provision and what should be the AC capacity to provision for the server room? This requirement is in Israel so the input voltage would be 200-240 Volts AC.

Also, on the power supplies these are the options I got for the 6000W power supplies:

1) Combined PWR-C45-6000W with Dual 220V inputs on each power supply

2) Combined PWR-C45-6000W with three 220V inputs

3) Single/Redundant PWR-C45-6000W with a Dual 220V input

4) Single/Redundant PWR-C45-6000W with a Single 220V input

Point# 1 and 4 are a bit confusing. What I understand is that these means I can either go for a single 6000W or a dual 6000W. If that is the case why does point# 1 mention "Combined"?

What is the difference between Single, Dual and three inputs? I have seen power supplies with Dual inputs only. Are there different part number for these power supplies of 6000W?

Thanks,

N.

Hi N,

#1 & #4 - The difference is in the amount of power data & POE consumed when you use in different mode. Clearly #1- will have more available power fir you to add mode 15.4W devices or 30W devices in future. At the same time, if one PS goes down you may loose module due to 'combined' mode.

Single/Dual/Three inputs: 6000W comes with 2 inputs. Dual PS got 4 inputs, so you can use 3 from 4 of the inputs.

Thanks MS. How much power should the vendor provision for this requirement? What will the the AC tonnage needed?
