Private VLAN with 3560 and 2960

Hi

3560 supports pvlans no problems there but 2960 supports only private vlan edge ports (protected ports). The switches are connected with normal trunk link. My question is that if I have vlan 2001 on my 3560 as an isolated vlan and I have computers on protected ports in vlan 2001 on the 2960. Will the computers on the 2960 be able to communicate with computers on 3560? in the isolated vlan I mean. Gateway of these computers is on neither of these switches.

Hi

I don't think this will work. The ports on the 2960 are not part of the isolated vlan you have created on the 3560. The only ports the isolated ports can talk to are promiscuous ports and these will probably be your layer 3 interfaces whichever switch they are on.

Protected ports are only locally significant to the switch and are not part of an isolated vlan.
