Hi everyone
I am trying to add 70 non-continuous vlan to a mode trunk interface on a Catalyst 4500. When doing the switchport trunk allowed vlan command with my 70 vlans, it only add 56 vlans. There is 14 vlans that are not added. Here is an output of my interface configuration :
switchport trunk allowed vlan 601,604,607,610,613,616,622,625,628,631,634,637
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 643,646,649,652,655,658,664,667,670,673,676
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 679,685,688,691,694,697,700,706,709,712,715
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 718,721,727,730,733,736,739,748,751,754,757
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 760,769,772,775,778,781,790,793,796,799,802
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
storm-control broadcast level 10.00
Is there a limitation for how many vlans you can add on a trunk on an interface?
Thanks

Hi Stephane,
By default all vlans are added to a trunk port.
show vtp status will show "maximum vlans supported locally" and "number of existing vlans".
show interface trunk: will show vlans allowed on trunk and vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned.
Hope this helps...

Thank you for your response, it helped me.
Finally, the issue was that there is limitation on the number of vlan or the number of characters you can have in a command. I added manually the missing vlans with the switchport trunk allowed vlan add command and I know see all of them correctly configured on my port.
Once again, thanks a lot Charles

Hi,
The limitation is the amount of vlans the switch support witch is 4094 for 4500 series.
Can you list the vlans the switch is not taking?
What is the error message you get?
if the vlan IDs you are trying to add are between 1006-4094, you may have to enable extended range.
