Hi,
I was previously using two 4507 switches with the same IOS and same supervisor modules [dual WS-X4515 SUPERVISOR ENGINE IV]. An etherchannel was setup and running without problems. Switch #1 got damaged and had to be replaced with a new 4507 with new supervisor modules [dual WS-X45-SUP7L-E]. The IOS in the new switch1 is newer than the IOS of the older switch2.
After the entire configuration was in place I tried to establish the etherchannel but it doesn't want to go up in the new switch1, it does shows up in the old switch2. I want to use the default vlan1 and the interfeaces are in access mode, not trunk. Both switches can ping each other, but the status of the etherchannel on the new switch1 is listed as down. I tried all the modes for the etherchannel; active, auto, desirable, passive but none of them work, each and every time I removed the port-channel interface and start from scratch. I tried to force speed and duplex but it get worse, also with and without spanning-tree portfast. Anyways the setup with the old switch was running with the “ON” mode and the interfaces on their default speed and duplex setting and that's the way I prefer to run the configuration. Interfaces on both switches have the same capacities. I issued the [DEBUG ETHERCHANELL ALL] command on the new switch1 but no information gets displayed on the console.
Can you please provide some help?

Ok, fixed moving to different ports and recreating the port-channel with different number.
Thanks.

Glad you got it fixed and thanks for posting back.
Just one thing, please don't use portfast on the link between the switches as any version of portfast should not be used for switch interconnections.
