Hi,
I try to downgrade a IOS from version 15.0(2)SE2 to version 12.2(55)SE7 on a WS-C2960-48TC-S
I copy the .bin file from a TFTP server in the flash and after I use these commands :
boot system xxx.bin
copy running-config startup-config
reload
In the show boot I have
BOOT path-list : c2960-lanlitek9-mz.122-55.SE7.bin
it's good, but after that the switch reload, in the show version I have always the version 15.0(2)SE2
The register is 0xF and it's impossible to change it to 0x2102 (I'm not sur it's the solution, but I tryed).
I'm confusing, because same days ago I used the same method on others switchs (same model, same IOS versions and same configuration register) and the switchs reloaded with the good IOS version (12.2(55)SE7 )
Any idea?
Thanks

Hi
Try boot system flash://c2960-lanlitek9-mz.122-55.SE7.bin
then save and reboot , when you just say boot system it wont pull it from flash from my experience

Hi mark,
tanks you, the correct command is flash:c2960-lanlitek9-mz.122-55.SE7.bin
the problem is solved.
But I have another question please:
after the downgrade, on the switch any username have disappeared.
Do you now why? Is there a solution?
Thanks

what do you mean " any username have disappeared" did you follow the process of copying the config from running to startup etc ?
did you loose al the config ?

Non, I did't lose all the config, only the config about the locals users, like:
username xxx privilege 15 secret yyy
I copied the config from running to startup, yes

That strange sounds like a bug that should not happen when moving between IOS versions

I Mark,
I think it's a bug too. To test, I have update from
c2960-lanlitek9-mz.122-55.SE7
to
c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10
with no problem: all user accounts remain in the configuration after the update.
Thank you

that's good you were able to isolate it and prove it out
