Problem with upgrading IOS on 4948

seducer666

Level 1

I have 4948 switch with "12.2(31)SGA1" IOS (Conf reg is 0x2101). When I reload switch its boot without any errors.

Now I need to upgrade it to "12.2(31)SGA4".

My configuration is:

boot-start-marker

boot system flash cat4500-entservices-mz.122-31.SGA4.bin

boot-end-marker

Configuration register is 0x2102

When I reloading switch it gives out this error:

---------------------------------------------

******** The system will autoboot now ********

config-register = 0x2102

Autobooting using BOOT variable specified file.....

Current BOOT file is --- cat4500-entservices-mz.122-31.SGA4.bin

Invalid filename cat4500-entservices-mz.122-31.SGA4.bin. It must begin with device name.

Type 'boot -help' for details.

The switch will automatically reboot now...

--------------------------------------------

After three retries switch boots with old IOS.

How to solve this problem.

Thanks

Hi there,

Mate, it looks like the boot variable is pointing at the flash: file system rather than the bootflash: file system.

try this:

boot system bootflash:cat4500-entservices-mz.122-31.SGA4.bin

hope that helps.. :)
