I have next situation, I´m trying to make a stack with two switches, one with 3750x-24p-s and the second one with the 3750x-12s-s, the first one comes from factory with the IOS version 12.2(55)SE3, C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M with license level of IPServices. The second one with the IOS 12.2(58)SE2 , C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M, with license level of IPBase, Cisco said on his literature that a stack could be done with devices that share the same IOS version even with different feature sets on the licens, according to this I try to make an IOS upgrade form version 12.2(55)SE3 to the version 12.2(58)SE2 and when I try to run with this image the switch give me this error:
Error: hardware not supported by firmware.
Try loading newer software instead.
Same thing happens if I try to downgrade the version 12.2(58)SE2 to the 12.2(55)SE3, then I have to make some investigation and found some confusing information form CISCO, they say on table2 of this link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/qa_c67-578933.html that you could make a stack with the two model of switches I´m using but only if they are on the same level of feature sets I mean all switches IPBase or IPservices but if you continue reading the text you will found a contradictory information:
Q. Q.Are mixed stacks supported?
A. It depends. The Cisco StackWise and StackWise Plus solutions are flexible enough to allow you to:
• Stack any Cisco Catalyst 3750 switch in the same stack (hardware mixed stack)
• Stack any Cisco IOS Software feature set in the same stack (software mixed stack)
One exception is the new LAN Base models being introduced with the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X Series, which can stack only with other Catalyst 3750-X LAN Base models.
So trying to solve this I request for a demo license with IPServices for the 3750x-12s-s, this don´t solve the problem at all but at least after the license upgrade I could copy the 12.2(58)SE2 image to the 3750x-24p-s without the Error: hardware not supported by firmware anymore, so I boot with the new image and both switches were with the same IOS version and with the same feature seats and finally the stacks were successful, now I need to justify that this is the rule of thumb to make a stack with the new Universal images but I haven´t found some official and clear information form cisco, but I have found several discussions where establishes the same conclusion that I found that could be found on this links:

Any help will be appreciated

Upgrade your 3750X-24PS to 12.2(55)SE7.
Downgrade your 3750X-12S to 12.2(55)SE7.
If they both have the same feature set, both switches should be able to stack.
