PVST problem

1.Since pvst is by default Cisco product... then why we get this remark

Spanning tree enabled protocol ieee ..when we do sh span command....

2.As per pvst it only work with ISL encapsulation technique...practically i found i does work with dot1q also why?

Hi,

This is because the switches with recent IOS versions are using PVST+ instead of PVST. Per VLAN Spanning Tree Plus (PVST+) provides the same functionality as PVST using 802.1Q trunking technology rather than ISL. PVST+ is an enhancement to the 802.1Q specification and is not supported on non-Cisco devices.
