I have issue with getting DHCP OFFERs.
A supplicant (desktop machine/notebook) is connected to a Cisco IP Phone and the phone is connected to a 802.1x enabled switch(port). PXE boot or LAN boot is enabled in BIOS. PXE client is used for installing the desktop machine/notebook with a OS image by a provsisioning server.
When the supplicant is switched on the PXE client will start. Due to two or three LAN link resets the switchport has to re-authenticate the supplicant. Based on the not available 802.1x capabilties (of PXE client) the switch has to put the supplicants MAC into a fallback/guest/staging network which is configured on the switchport. In the meantime the PXE client is already sending DHCP DISCOVERs which are not received by the DHCP server, because the switchport hasn't assigned a VLAN to the MAC. After the timer on the PXE client is expired the client exits and the DHCP DISCOVER is not successful.
In case when you asking - yes IP HELPER is configured. The problem is just that during the PXE clients discovers the IP and some other DHCP options the switch is still authenticating the client..
Can anybody help?
