Question about stuck PSU for C9500-24Y4C

Hi,

Some one had mistakenly plugged in the PSU wrongly (upside down to be exact) and now it is stuck and cannot be removed :(

Any advice/suggestions on how to get it out?

Hi,

Turn off the switch and try pulling it out. Hopefully, the pins in the back of chassis are not damaged and can be reused to put the PSU in the correct way.

That did not solve it for us, the PSU is mechanically stuck on something in the slot. And I cannot figure out what.

Hi!

As I've had the same issue some time ago and trying to simply pull it out ain't working, here is what worked for me.

The main problem is that there's some kind of hook in the chassis that holds the PSU in the bay when it's inserted the right way. However, if the PSU is put into the bay in the wrong way, the hook snaps into the power supply and locks. Therefore, it is difficult to pull out again. In my case, pulling out the PSU didn't work, however, I didn't use a lot of force, which I would in general advise against. Here is a picture of the hook that locks the PSU in place:

In order to get to the PSU you have to use a screwdriver with a very small torx bit to unscrew the chassis and remove the plate. After removing the plate, you can see the motherboard, RAM, fan and everything else that was installed in the switch. To get the stuck PSU out of the case you have to carefully bend the chassis and carefully! pull the PSU out.

Once removed, I would advice you to check whether there is any damage to the pins, the chassis or the PSU itself. If there is no damage, you can close the cover again and screw it to the chassis. Then you can then slide the power supply back into the slot (hopefully the right way round this time ).

I would like to point out that what I did is (probably) NOT the recommended way, but it was the only way I could get the PSU out of the chassis without any major damage. The switch is currently back in operation and I haven't noticed any problems so far. If this changes, or I find an alternative solution, I will post it here.

I hope my instructions were helpful and the switch is switching
