"do" in global config mode

Hello

The other days I did a Webex to help a customer to configure some vlans and add them to existing trunks.

Something surprised be but I didn't want to ask the customer.

In my lab equipment, if I am on the global config mode or under an interface config mode, I must prefix any show command with the keyword "do" for it to work.

In that customer's equipment, it wasn't required to use the word "do". Show commands worked from anywhere.

Any idea what type of Cisco switches work like that?

Yes ios makes you use do but the newer ios-xe and nx-os software is smart enough that you don't have to use do , its not limited to the platform but the software

EDIT:just tested this to be sure , its nx-os only sorry not supported in ios-xe

SWA-LAB5K(config)# show version | i n5000
  kickstart image file is: bootflash:///n5000-uk9-kickstart.7.0.6.N1.1.bin
  system image file is:    bootflash:///n5000-uk9.7.0.6.N1.1.bin
