radius and autentication methods

Does Radius protocol only support 802.1x authentication?

Yes, If you are deploying 802.1x, you would need Radius for authentication.

but if i am not depoying 802.1x can i still use radius protocol? or To put it another way  Is Raduis protocol only used for 802.1x authentication?  Can we use Radius protocol with other authentication methods?

yes of course you can use it for login authentication or PPP authentication for example.
