Dear Mister
I have a doubt about QoS in 2960. Well, I have voice traffic, using DCSP ef. But I have a problems woth data traffic in real time. This traffic by someone reason, still did not identified. I want to apply QoS. What is the best criteria???
a) Set real time traffic with DSCP 40, by sample, and generate another outgoing queue.
b) Set the real time traffic with DCSP 46, and put both: voice and real time traffic in the same queue, but I must to do greater the queue in buffers, bandwitdh, etc..
Best Regards

Hello Rodrigo,
Trust you are doing great.
Could you please provide the below.
- On what criteria are you classifying the traffic which you would mark as DSCP 40 and 46.

Mohit

Dear Mohit
I just put a sample. Maybe I was not clear in the question and doubt. I have two traffics, Voice and Data, but the last is real time traffic.
Maybe the question must be ... What is the best option in order to put both traffic (Voice tipically EF) and real time traffic ( DSCP???) functioning in 2960, about outgoing queues and marking? Whats is the best option in order to both traffic do not starve one to anothert?
I has seeing tables about it, but i do not remember.
The real time data traffic is screen capture, is like video, the application is qfinity. Not more 150 ms delay.
I expect must be more clear.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

What is "best" is whatever best accomplishes your service requirements. Ideally, if possible, keeping to "best practices" and other recommendations.
There are RFC and Cisco recommendations for marking traffic. I suggest one of those should be used. Personally, I would recommend using RFC recommendations.
There are also some Cisco recommendations for processing marked traffic, but those are really up to your needs.
If your real-time data traffic really needs the best possible treatment, it, as is usually the case for VoIP bearer traffic, could also be placed into a 2960's PQ. It doesn't need to be, and probably shouldn't be, marked the same as VoIP bearer traffic.
If your real-time data traffic needs treatment similar to PQ, but doesn't really need PQ, you can, on a 2960, provide it a very high weight relative to other traffic.
If you fear both traffic types in the same queue, especially if that queue is PQ, you could set both egress queues to same high priority relative to other traffic, and weigh them, relative to each other, as desired. E.g. weights such as 255 255 10 1.
