I have a flash memory problem with the master switch in a 3750X cluster of three switches.
The flash memory of the master switch is either corrupted or out of commission.
A "dir" or "dir flash1:" command results in "%Error opening flash:/ (Invalid argument)".
The flash memory of the other two switches in the cluster is fine.
One of the results of this is the inability to save the running configuration to the config.text file of the master switch.
My inclination is to run "format flash1:", then copy all of the files from one of the other switches to the master switches.
Is that a logical step?
In the event that the flash memory of that switch is no longer functioning, will it be enough to renumber the master switch and set it to a lower priority, or would it make more sense to replace the switch?

Hello!
Try the following commands -
fsck flash1:
format flash1:
But do it in a service window and have an spare 3750X ready. Unfortunately the 3750X are end of support so you won't be able to do an RMA. If the commands do not help the switch will have to be replaced because of broken flash.

Aloha, Daniel
I apologize for the VERY late response on this.
I've not done anything yet on this.
I go back to my earlier comment on changing the priority of the problem master switch, resulting in the 2nd switch in the cluster taking on the role of master.
I've manually copied the running config to the other two switches in the cluster as "config.text".
I believe this should allow the 2nd switch to boot using the desired configuration.
Am I correct in that thinking?
I have spare 3750Xs, so I can replace the faulty switch.
We're in the processing of replacing the switches, so this won't be a long term problem.

Grant
