Removing old .bin & .conf switch upgrade files

Hello everybody,

I recently have upgraded my Cisco 9200 from 17.03.04 to 17.06.04 via install mode over a tftp server.

I ran a install remove inactive command prior to the upgrade but wanted to run it after aswell to remove the old 17.03.04 files. However, after running the command it is also include the new 17.06.04 .bin and .conf. files. Are these safe to remove?

The following files will be deleted:
[switch 1]:
/flash/cat9k_lite-rpbase.17.03.04.SPA.pkg
/flash/cat9k_lite-rpboot.17.03.04.SPA.pkg
/flash/cat9k_lite-srdriver.17.03.04.SPA.pkg
/flash/cat9k_lite-webui.17.03.04.SPA.pkg
/flash/cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.bin
/flash/cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.conf

Please advise, thank you.

After upgrade is the switch booted as expected, check show version - 17.06.04

show boot ( packages.conf and  not poitng to cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.conf)

then you can safe to delete those files.

Use the "more" command, i. e.  "more flash:cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.conf", and peer inside the contents.  Compare the output to the "packages.conf" (more flash:packages.conf).

At the end of the Install mode script, the system will create a copy of the file "cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.conf" and call it "packages.conf".  Since the switch has boot up into the correct version, the file "cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.conf" is no longer needed therefore it is safe to delete.
