Hi Community,

I have a stack of 3750G and i want to replace the master switch priority 15 coz of  faulty port .

And I receive new switch from cisco WS-C3750X-24

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 30    WS-C3750X-24       12.2(55)SE4           C3750E-IPBASEK9-M

If I connect a new blank 3750X  through the stack ports, will the OLD switch   sync its config to the new one without causing problems? or i need to change switch only

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 24    WS-C3750G-24T      12.2(55)SE4           C3750-IPBASEK9-M
     2 24    WS-C3750G-24T      12.2(55)SE4           C3750-IPBASEK9-M

I change IOS of new switch to c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE4.bin

Please help me with this.

Awaiting your reply.

I am presuming switch 1 is the one you want to replace?  If yes, then this is the most "easiest" methodology to do so:

1.  Power down switch 1;

2.  Remove the stacking cable;

3.  Remove switch 1 appliance;

4.  Install new 3750X;

5.  DO NOT POWER UP new 3750X;

6.  Connect stacking cable; and

7.  Power up the new 3750X.

Done.  Nice and easy.

Hello Mayur,

Please ensure  ensure the new switch is running the same (or at least compatible) software. You may need to renumber the new switch once it is in place.

  1. power down the switch 1
  2. remove switch 1
  3. insert the new switch .
  4. connect the stacking cables.
  5. power on new switch .

i hope it helps.

hi Leo Laohoo,

thankx for the reply,

and one more thing i want to conform that about IOS coz in my live switch having this version

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 24    WS-C3750G-24T      12.2(55)SE4           C3750-IPBASEK9-M
     2 24    WS-C3750G-24T      12.2(55)SE4           C3750-IPBASEK9-M

and new 3750X having

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 30    WS-C3750X-24       12.2(55)SE4           C3750E-IPBASEK9-M

So this cause any issue???

All units are running IP Base Feature set.  IOS version is 12.2(55)SE4.

I see no issues there.
