My theme is - Analysis of existing mechanisms for rapid recovery on Layer 2 of the OSI model.
I do not want from you to do my work instead of me. I need just some key words or some protocols or whatever that can help to do my job.

Hi Marian,
Take some time to research STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) and all the relevant extensions that have been developed over the years.
cheers,

Flex Link - Switch between an active and standby Port
TRILL ("Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links") - Link State Routing on Layer 2
All flavors of STP (RSTP,MSTP..)
May be also BFD - Bidirectional Forward detection - It's commonly used for fast Link failure detection for L3 Routing Protocols but some parts of BFD also work on L2
