Hi, all.

what are the right pronunciations for follows in English.
1) 255.255.0.0
(two five five point two five five point zero point zero?)
2) 192.168.100.50

Hi Haa,
You can pronounce point as "dot" as generally when you pronounce ip addresses and subnet mask we use "dot" so something like this
255.255.0.0 = > two fifty five "dot" two fifty five "dot" zero "dot" zero
same you can apply for 192 "dot" 168 "dot" 100 "dot" 50
also where you have written two five five for 255 you can pronounce two fifty five
for Fig. 3-5 you can pronounce "figure 3 dash five" or even what you have mentiones is correct Figure three hypen five.

Many people will say things differently 0 like in that old song.
As addresses are referred to as "dotted decimal" it is normal to call the point a dot, and with addresses there is a mix of saying the digits and the whole number. In your mask I would say the digits, bt the address I would say one ine two dot one six eight dot one hundred dot fifty. As I think about it, 100 is the threshold of where I change, 101 being one oh one.
Fig 3-5 I would normally read with a pause - fig 3,5 though I may sometimes say dash rather than pause - normally where numbers are getting bigger - fig 27-103 would probably be fig 27 dash 103.
I don't know why I say dash rather than hyphen, it is dust what I do - I am english BTW rather than american, i that helps understanding.

May kind natures be honored!
I've got useful knowledges.
I shall say two five five dot two five five dot zero dot zero
at CCIE exam labo someday!
When we read them aloud in Japan, we often ignore dots as informal
usage. Because it is cool.
So they are pronounced as follows in Japan:
1) 255.255.0.0
nihyaku gojyuugo ten nihyaku gojyuugo ten rei ten rei or
nihyaku gojyuugo ten nihyaku gojyuugo ten zero ten zero
( informal and cool usage: ni go go ni go go zero zero )
2) 192.168.100.50
hyakukyuujyuni ten hyakurokujyuuhati ten hyaku ten gojyu
( informal and cool usage:
ichi ku ni ichi roku hachi ten hyaku ten gojyuu)
192.168 is ichi ku ni ichi roku hachi, dot is ignored here.
3') 3-5

Misty has gone! Thank you, all!
