Hi Taimoor,

Might be 2 issues here.

1 - Switch reloaded

2 - After the reload, RPS complaining with the following errors in logs:

Apr 23 08:35:42.586 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:35:51.687 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:36:00.830 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:36:03.900 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:36:09.973 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:36:13.035 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Apr 23 08:36:31.112 MDT: %PLATFORM_ENV-3-RPS_CHANGE_TO_STANDBY: RPS state changed to standby

Have a look at the following URL,  specifically Table 4-1  and check the

standby/Active LED on the RPS

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/power_supplies/rps2300/hardware

/installation/guide/rpstrb.html#wpxref72657

Standby/Active LED is blinking amber.  >>>>> The RPS 2300 is in standby

mode. >>>>>Press the Standby/Active button to put the RPS 2300 in active

mode.

Verify the LED on the RPS and if the above is all you need to do.

If not, have a look at Table 4 - 1 for additional diagnostics you can do

on RPS.

To reset the RPS if needed:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/power_supplies/rps2300/hardware

/installation/guide/rpsoview.html#wp1054006

"To manually reset the ports to the default settings, press both the

Select and Standby/Active buttons for 3 seconds, and then release. All

system and port LEDs flash green, then amber before the RPS 2300 begins

operating with the default port priority settings."

But do verify or let me know if the LED was blinking amber or so.  If

that is the case, just pressing the Standby/Active button should make

the led go green.

Hello Anayat,

Thanks for the reply thats very useful information. I have a question so if I change RPS into active-mood using router config than it wont effect the running router/production server ? I belive the guy who install these stacks forget to turn Active the rps.

Hi Taimoor,

Typically you should not. But still it would be worth if you could do off business hours.
