I have a server farm setup of four 6500 switches. They are running RSTP. The spanning-tree is not currently optimized for some server VLANs and I am planning to configure RSTP Primary and Secondary.
Considering that RSTP has fast convergence (2 sec in theory) would there be an impact to server connectivity for the VLANs if I change spanning tree priority for these switches?

I've done this kind of work with minimal impact, although I have found a brief (less than 5 second) pause for some devices as the spanning tree recalculates. I wouldn't do this to a production server farm during busy hours though 🙂
Good luck,
Ryan

Get a maintenance window and do it then.
