All, I hope you can help. We have several WS-C3850-24S-E's in our network. I am trying to figure out whether we can use ruggedized SFP modules in them, such as the GLC-LX-SM-RGD. In the SFP compatibility matrix, it doesn't list the RGD modules as compatible. Is this really the case that they can't be used? I find it hard to believe that they won't work. Thanks.

Hi.
I do not think your switch supports these SFPs
GLC-LX-SM-RGD
The compatability matrix was updated on 30th Oct
Still not mentioned in the 3850 section

You can try the following commands though it may not always work for third party SFPs:
service unsupported-transceiver
no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
