Save config file on 2950 switch

Hello ,

how can I save a configuration file, copy run start with a different filename than startup-config so that I have more than one config file saved on the switch, when I tried with a different name it said Invalid Argument ?

I have another issue which I cannot ping sites from the switch while when I use  a pc connected to the same switch I can. Could this be because of switch being a layer 2 ?

  You should be able to save a copy in flash. "copy runn flash: "  .   The management address is probably in a different vlan than the  clients on the switch itself .  If the management address of the switch is in the same vlan as the clients you should be able to ping out assuming you have a default gateway defined on the switch.
