Selecting a router to terminate a T3 Circuit?

We have a new T3 circuit to terminate.

Will a 2811 router, T3 module included, handle the job? I'd like to save the cost difference of a 3825 router.

A 3825 supports a DS3 with no services and 3845 supports a DS3 with services. Those are the minimums.

Hope that helps.

With complex QoS, I've seen a 2811 handle about 20 Mbps (duplex) on a T3, where it tops out the CPU. From its Mpps rating, a 2851 might just about handle a T3, but haven't seen one in action.

Much depends on just how much traffic you'll routinely push across the T3. In my case of the 2811 on a T3, normal traffic doesn't usually exceed 10 to 15 Mbps on the T3, and at that volume level, it seems to work well.

Are you just terminating the T3 for routing or will you be running any services over it?
