SFP+ slots support both SFP and SFP+ modules

My questio is, can SFP+ slots support both SFP and SFP+ modules and should operate at the same time, in switch like WS-C3850-48P-L or  WS-C3850-24P-L ?

we will be able to put one regular SFP in SFP+ port 1 and one SFP+ like (SFP-10G-LR) transceiver in the second SFP+ port AND use both them concurrently to connect to external devices?

Thank you.

An SFP+ receptacle supports both 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet modules, allowing customers to use their investment in Gigabit Ethernet SFP modules and upgrade to 10 Gigabit Ethernet when business demands change without having to do a comprehensive upgrade of the access switch. In contrast, SFP receptacles can be used only as Gigabit Ethernet ports, as shown in the examples in Table 4.

Thank you for the response;

It mean that I can plug SFP module (like 1000base-SX sfp transceiver) in SFP+ slots ( like C3850-NM-2-10G) and it supported  in switch like WS-C3850-48P-L or  WS-C3850-24P-L ?

Yes it just means you will be using a 10GB port as 1GB which on the 24port you can only have a 2 slot 10GB module on the 48 port you can also have 4 slot C3850-NM-4-10G

Yes the 1000Base SX is supported for those switches

Great, thank you very much

Is this valid with Meraki MS225 as well?

Hi!

This is indeed possible, please refer to the following link for 3850 chassis:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/GE_Tx_Matrix.html#wp128965

For with C3850-NM-4-10G NM as an example, you can plug an SFP  (like the GLC-SX-MMD) or an SFP+ transceiver and will be completely compatible with the module

Hope it helps, best regards!
