SFP + supported on 6509-E ?

Hello Friends

We are trying to migrate from 1g to 10G, couldn't find any module on 6509-E which supports 10G on SFP+ ...

I can see X2 and Xenpacks .. but not SFP + ..

Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.. btw ..what exactly this Xenpack means ?

Thank You

You need to buy X2 Modules or take the part number CVR-X2-SFP10G= which is an X2 to SFP+ convertor.

Hi,

The 10Gig choices for 6500 series are 4 port 10Gig, 8 port 10Gig and 16 port 10Gig.  The 4 port uses XENPAK module, the 8 port and 16 port use X2.

Here is the data sheet:

Not true.

All the modules you mentioned accept only X2 and not SFP+

Even the 6816-10G-2T is X2. So are the 6900 series line cards.

The only option with 6500 swicth modules is the CVR-X2-SFP10G which will convert an X2 port to SFP+

2 years ago (the age of our initial posts) our responses are correct.

Between now and our posts, Cisco released the CVR-X2-SFP10G.
