SG switches compared to Catalyst switches

Hi

Could someone give me some pros and cons on SG series of switches compared to Catalyst switches.

The only thing i have notices is that to get the advanced security features like AAA-RADUIS, DAI, DHCP Snooping, IPSG, TDR and so on you need the 550 series model of the SG  line.

And the 550 series is almost at the same pricepoint as the 2960X witch is the model I would compare it to.

Im also interested in some good point on why I should pay 2-5 times as much for the 2960X compared to the SG250/SG350.

Br,

Rasmus

Service, support, hardware quality and features all make the catalysts more expensive.
If you bought lan base lite you would also get closer in pricepoint.
If you are not missing any features, you would probably not notice the difference in upgrading though.

Hi

The SG switches are designed for mini/small and medium companies, they are very good actually, the CLI configuration could be a little bit different than Catalyst. The cost, throughput between a SG and Catalyst are considerable.

The following link could be useful:

Hope it is useful
