SG300-52p VLAN Setup and Routing

Pamela W

I have a testing environment which I am playing with to better understand vlans before I need to implement and having a few issues, hope someone could help.  Below is what I am using

Watchguard Firewall with ip address 172.168.1.1 port 1 plugs into Cisco SG300-52p

Cisco SG300-52p –setup in Layer 3 (172.168.1.2)

Default VLAN

VLAN 10 – DATA  - 172.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 – for all data pc’s some hanging off back of voip phones

VLAN 20 – VOIP – 172.168.5.2 255.255.255.0 – voip phones

DHCP Server Microsoft - 172.168.1.3

Scope for data of 172.168.1.100-200 255.255.255.0

Scope for voip of 172.168.5.100-200 255.255.255.0

Currently as this is a testing environment I have in switch – port 1 is firewall, port 2 is server and port 3 is voip phone with pc hanging off

I have tried different setups but can not seem to get the vlan 20 to get an ip address for the voip phone once I setup the vlan, the pc has no issue so I believe its my routing but not sure what I am missing. Neither vlan can see each other which I would also.

I could put all the different things I have tried but may be easier if someone could just point me in the right direction please that would be probably be easier

Thanks.

You will need a DHCP helper address of 172.168.1.3 on the VLAN 20 interface on the switch.

Hi Brandon

I have that already  but still isn't working, any other suggestions?

What type of phone? Is the switchport configured with a voice VLAN of 20?

Its a polycom phone, I have left smartport on and it sees that it is an ip phone and pc.  I have setup voice vlan 20 and using autovoice rather than telephone oui.  I have utagged default vlan 1 and tagged vlan 20 on port 3.  The pc gets an ip address but the phone does not.

Could be a firmware issue on the phone. Can you try upgrading? If you manually configure the voice VLAN on the phone does it work?

The phones are pre configured so I can't change any settings.  I am getting a different model so will give that a go tomorrow hopefully thanks.
