Hello,
This is my first post. I am a newbie to networking technolgy so be gentle with me.
We have a series of SG 300 network switches. I login through the web page to
find out more the MAC addresses. The issue here is I am trying to hunt down
a pesky MAC address which holds the same IP address and causes conflict
with another machine. I am hoping through the port mapping under the "Mac Address Table"
I can identify the port and thus the machine using it.
Strangely, I can see the MAC address in a few switches under the "Mac Address Table" ->
"Dynamic Addresses" but only under the interface "GE1". It is *never* in any of the GE2 to
GE24 ports. What exactly does "GE1" mean in this context?
Another strange thing is this MAC address actually belongs to a machine that
is never *on* when the conflict occurs.
Hope someone can shed some light on this issue I am facing. Thanks!
