Hi All,

My name is David and im new in the Cisco Buisness.

My prof is IT but lately i found my self to much dependent on cisco guys.

so... i started learning at hoe ccna.

i got a little question as a newbie.

i configured a 1941 as dhcp.

i got fa1 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0

and fa2 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0

my IPs of the router is 192.168.1.253

                                  192.168.10.253

both are inside networks.

internet is coming from 192.168.1.1

i configured all but i want to add route

ip route 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.253

and its repling to me

%invalid next hop address (its this router)

to be cleared the DG on DHCP on 192.168.1.0 is 192.168.1.1

but ther is no route tru the 192.168.10.0 on route table.

i configured all but i want to add route

ip route 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.253

the 192.168.10.0 subnet is directly connected so no need for a static route.

What do you want to do? be clearer post a diagram as well as show run of 1941

i know that i should not add static route but in subnet

when i route print there is no route to the 192.168.10.0 interface.

(i will prepare a diagram if i am not cleared enoght)

Why should there be a route to this subnet by default on your PC. All it's got are directly connected routes and the default route but no subnet route.

you must use route add on your host for that

I suppose you are talking about the PC because on the 1941 to see the routing table the command is show ip route and you should see directly connected routes if your interfaces are up and have an IP address.To verify this point issue following command: show ip interface brief

I want all internet traffic goes to ADSL

and i need to remote control servers.

On the Cisco router, type ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1

Your ADSL gateway needs a route for 192.168.10.0 towards your Cisco router 1.253 address for return traffic to the 10.x network.

i cant add routes on the 192.168.1.1 router , long story.

should i change DG to 1.253 and then add 0.0.0.0 to 1.1 with 10 metric so it will be before the DG? and then could i add the 10.0 subnet route?
